Zoe's P.O.V What was my uncle doing here? "Uncle Kay, why are you here?" I said looking at my uncle and then at Daryl confused. Kay was my mother's youngest brother and one of my favorite family members aside from my parents and siblings. "This young man is trying to buy shares in my company," he said pointing at Daryl, who was looking at us shocked. "You do know he is Daryl Grey, the Daryl Grey right so why not sign the contract?" I questioned my uncle was very good when it came to business so this was so unlike him. "I don't care who he is I need to know that he would take good care of the company Zoe," he said looking at me in all seriousness. "He is a good man uncle and he would upkeep the company and even make it better than it is right now. I of all people would know," "How Zoe?" He said looking at me with his eyebrows raised. God, I need to think of something fast. 'Think Zoe, think'. "Well you see we maybe kind of sort of are engaged and aside from taking care of me and doing everything to keep me happy he takes care of his businesses and all the others he ever bought shares from," Wait, what did I just say? my sweet God forgive me for sinning. Both Daryl and Uncle Kay looked at me wide-eyed. Trust me I was just as surprised as them well more surprised I said what I did in the first place. "Yes uncle, he proposed to me a few days ago and no uncle he did not know I was your niece and I think it shocked him to learn that today because I agreed that I would be his lawyer as it gives us more time together," I said hugging Daryl as he turned to my uncle "Plus I think my future wife is the person I trust most with my business and everything associated with it," he told uncle Kay before pecking me on my lips. 'Excuse me but who said he can go anywhere close to my lips?' I taught to myself. Uncle Kay looked at the both of us with a wide smirk on his face before saying "Thank God I taught you would become a nun," "What?" Daryl said laughing. "Nothing babe and Uncle Kay don't you dare!" I said still hugging Daryl. "When she was younger I used to tell her I want her to have one not become a nun," he said chuckling at his joke. Daryl started to laugh along with him until I elbowed him in the rib. "Zoe?" "Yes, uncle Kay?" I said smiling sweetly at him "Where is your ring?" "She took it off to bathe yesterday and she forgot to put it back on," Daryl covered smoothly before kissing me on my shoulder. "Love that rock is big and I don't want to lose it," God why does he make me feel like I have a zoo in my stomach exactly and what imaginary ring am I talking about. "Where is it now and Zoe it is not nice to not keep on your ring and you won't lose it?" Uncle Kay pressed on curiously. "It is in my office because I know how she is and she was spending the day with me anyway," Daryl said before putting his face in the crook of my neck as I placed my hand over his that was wrapped around my hip. This boy is a pain I tell you but I mean I won't have to see him again after this. "You are going to get a tap young lady," uncle Kay said looking at me with his famous poker face. "Why?" I questioned with a terrified look on my face. "How could you not introduce him before to me and you know I would want to meet the person my niece is marrying?" He continued folding his arms and tapping his foot. "Well you see we were so busy uncle and I was so tired after work I forgot to mention it or set up a day for you to meet him," I said while putting my hand on my head dramatically and leaning into Daryl. "I will let this one slide Zoe Carter but you owe me lunch tomorrow and no excuses," Uncle said before opening his arms so I could hug him. Let me just say I am apparently a really good actress. Daryl and uncle Kay sat down to talk in two chairs as I sat in between both of them around the circular table. "When is the wedding?" Uncle Kay said getting straight to the point and not even mentioning Daryl buying forty-five percent of his company. Daryl smiled at me before taking my hand in his and kissing the back of it. "Whenever she is ready Mr. Marris but I honestly don't care as long as she is mine in the end," he said before placing a kiss on my hand. Man, this boy could act. "Kay would be fine son as you are family now...any man that can handle Zoe deserves it," my uncle said looking between us, also am I invincible? I feel horrible lying to him though but I guess I got to do it. "Zoe when do you think will be best for the wedding?" "Next five months if you don't mind babe," I said looking at Daryl. "I am fine with that baby girl; the sooner you're mine the better," he said looking at me with an expression that I can't pinpoint. After talking to uncle Kay for about half an hour we got up to go back to Daryl's office and escort my uncle to the elevator. "I want you guys to join me for dinner tonight Daryl and I think we can discuss more," uncle Kay said asking Daryl and completely ignoring me like I didn't have a say in this "Sure what time?" "At seven sharp and don't worry I will make the reservations," he said smiling between us and giving his personal number to Daryl. I hugged uncle Kay one more time before the elevator doors opened and he got in. Once he left Daryl and I made our way to his office. I swear his assistant's glare was so bad if looks could hurt I would be in a hospital. I walked straight and sat on his couch before taking my heels off and putting my feet up. No, I was not being rude but my feet were killing me. He closed the door and then came and lifted my feet before sitting and putting my feet back on his lap. Then he started to squeeze my feet. "These heels were hurting me so bad," "Why did you wear them then babe?" "First of it's Zoe to you and secondly it is a new pair and unusually uncomfortable," I said leaning back into the couch. After about fifteen minutes in silence with him squeezing my feet, he got up and walked to his desk. He then opened the top drawer taking out a small box which I could not see quite well from where I was sitting. "Baby, could you come here for a minute?" He said motioning me to walk to him. "What Dar?" I said ignoring the nickname he used and going towards him. "Give me your left hand," he said as I gave him my hand slowly. He took out a beautiful blue diamond ring surrounded by tiny white diamonds. "It's beautiful but I don't understand why you have an engagement ring in your office drawer," I said hugging him. "I knew you would love it from the moment I saw it," "You don't even know me," I said looking at him and breaking the hug. "I just knew it would be perfect for the most special person in my life," he said holding both my hands in his. I looked away from him snapping out of whatever little trance I was in and then pulled my hand out of his hold before walking back to the couch. We were only doing this to convince my uncle but he wasn't exactly here at this moment. If you were wondering yes I did bring my work with me because I taught I would go home after and finish up work. Was Andi right when he questioned Daryl earlier? I mean it was all strange. "Daryl?" I said unable to concentrate with all these questions whirling around my head. "Yes sweetheart?" he said coming to sit next to me. "Did you really want to buy my building because you knew I owned it as Andi said earlier because you have the resources to do an entire background check on the owner of the building you wanted?" I asked a little hurt. He didn't hate me so much right and he never even spoke to me before our meeting, not even the time I remember him from and even then neither one of us had any reason to talk to the other so it can't be. "I am not going to do that Zo and I won't... I promise I will never do that to you," he said as tucked a stray piece of hair behind my ear. "Okay, did you know my uncle was the person in that meeting, and did you have me do it because knowing I am his niece taught that it would make it easier for you?" I asked trying not to show that I was afraid of what the answer was. "No I did not and truth be told I asked because I had to fire my lawyer as he tried to steal money and got caught. You see I was opening a charity foundation to help get the homeless off the streets and he was taking care of the legal steps to do so and made a fake account so he could receive all the money. Something wasn't right and my P.I. found out after a month he was taking the money and imagine my surprise to know the stunning owner of that tech company was also a lawyer," he said looking at his hands. "I also heard that you did not have a very nice personality back then and is it the same?" "I was young and stupid and once I picked myself up and realized I need to change, I decided to build this empire and do something for myself," "Well you did good and I am glad that you found it right to notice your flaws and fix them," I said smiling and putting my hands on his. "If you want I could actually become your full-time lawyer and don't worry I won't attach a cost just put the money towards a charity or something," "Zo how about I pay you and do as you wish with your money that you worked for," he said smiling up at me. "Okay deal, now let me get back to these files and get back to work mister," I said smiling. By the time I finished, it was already five p.m. "Dar?" "Yes, baby?" "I think we should probably go ready for our dinner with my uncle," I said gathering my stuff. "Sure go on I'll pick you up next hour," he said getting up and kissing my cheek as I wrote down my address on a piece of paper and giving it to him. Well okay then. I went home and went up to my room getting a baby blue dress with floral patterns below it and wore minimal makeup. After I combed my hair and put a headband on. Once I finished I sat and waited for Daryl. By the time it was six Daryl reached. "Ready sweetheart and you look amazing?" "Yes and thank you. You don't look bad either," I said putting my hand on his arm as we walked to his car. This boy actually had taste in cars well color me impressed. 'Which restaurant were we going to?' "Your uncle messaged me and told me earlier love," Daryl said snapping me out of my taught and I realized I said it out loud. Little did I know.........
