CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR KNOWING HIM
JADE’S POV
“Did I say something amusing?” He finally asks when he notices that I can't stop smiling, and I just shake my head, not wanting to tell him that I found him to be cute because who knows what the hell he would do if he heard that now? I manage to suppress my smile at some point, so I just take tiny bites out of the casserole in front of me before looking back up at him, and I see that he's watching me, but I'm not fazed this time around.
“I don't mean to pry, but could I ask you something? Well, a couple of things,” I clarify, feeling apprehensive that even someone as nasty as Vivian knew a lot more about him than I did. “Of course, you can ask me anything,” he replies, turning off his phone to give me his undivided attention, which slightly warms me. “For starters, where did you grow up?” I start with a simple yet crucial question because I believe I can learn a lot just by asking about it.
