CHAPTER FIFTY TWO A THOUGHTLESS GENTLEMAN

JADE'S POV I wake up to the sound of something beeping; it's so loud that I must open my eyes. It takes a while for my eyes to adapt appropriately to the new environment, but when I do, the beeping sound isn't as loud as I thought, and I realize through the equipment and sheets that I'm in a hospital. I haven't been in one for years. I try to stand, but I'm too weak, so I just lay down and wait for someone to come in. I touch my head and realize it doesn't hurt as much as last night, for which I'm grateful.
