CHAPTER 3 THE BLUEPRINT

DYLAN’S POV "That bastard". This has been all I can think about ever since I discovered that Greyson, that undeserving fool, would be coming back. Before, he had almost no reason to. Family meetings and dinners never interested him, so he found no reason to return unless something crucial to our empire's well-being had occurred. I suspect that it's because of the engagement and the fact that my mother broke it off. He most likely heard about it, and since he finds me so incompetent, he has decided to come back and officially stake his claim to what should rightfully belong to me. One thing I despise about him is his smugness. He's the proudest person I know, the smugest on the whole continent. This is likely because he's been pampered since graduating from business school. Of course, he was at the top of his class without trying hard and began his reign of terror. He had to learn how to properly lead and manage a business from my Dad, who told him secrets he never considered telling me. He has always been stuck up and practically waving the keys to the kingdom in my face for as long as I can remember. He's a bit smart and has good business plans, but that's it for him in my complementary box. He's pretty popular among the ladies, too, and this is obviously because he pretends not to have any interest in them to get and keep their attention. Unlike every other semi-blind person, I see nothing desirable about him, since that's the only explanation for any living being to find him attractive. He might be tall, probably 6'4, and he's muscular too, but why wouldn't he be when he lives and breathes exercise? His deep cerulean eyes and dark hair might make him seem mysterious, but that's just a tactic to distract you from who he truly is—a coward with no sense of responsibility towards family and people. Enough about him since it gives me a headache to think about him for a long time. I partially blame my mom for everything that has happened since if not for her, I would still be engaged to Jade, and we would be planning our wedding. I feel especially bad for Jade since she lost the most important thing of all: me. It was undoubtedly clear to everyone that she was in love with me from the start of our merger. She would glance at me from time to time to see if I would be staring at her, too, and most of the time, I was. Jade is an exceptional woman. I'm not saying this because of how attractive she is with her long dark brown hair and rich dark eyes. Neither am I saying this because of her perfect body, one that most women want and what men such as myself desire. I'm saying this because of her heart, which is the most important thing. I'll admit that things didn't start on the right foot because, at first, I'm sure she must've found it hard to talk to me and for the proper reason. She must've found me very intimidating and ceased trying to interact with me. But as expected, we broke the ice sooner than later and got closer. We had a lot of conversations involving her and her family, my family, what we would do after we got married, and all other arrangements that would come after. Things were good until my……. I mean, her father had to become a fraud and die due to a fall from a building. Since things were moving quickly, I never knew what became of her mother and brother. Our family then absolved us of any previous contact with them, including our engagement. I was so confused about everything that I couldn't talk my mom out of it. Theresa Miller wasn't one you could talk out of something when she had already decided, so why bother? I tried my best to forget everything and anything about Jade, but it was so hard to try, so I buried my feelings. Unfortunately, everything crashed when she dropped by my office to supposedly give me back my ring. Evidently, she still wanted us to get back together, so she came to see me again and hopefully rekindle my feelings of love towards her. I'm saying this because why would she even bother coming to see me when she could've just mailed it to my house or office? Since she was being so coy for reasons we know all too well, I decided to take the first step to fix our relationship. She, of course, then decided to play hard to get like most girls, which I found attractive, and I plan on seeing her again as soon as I have time and my mum is out of the country. I'll have to be careful cause if my mum gets a whiff of this, it'll be game over for Jade cause she'll practically bury her under the rumble, which she is trying so desperately to fix and get out of. My sister, on the other hand, doesn't care much about anything either. Lydia has always been very rebellious, which required me to become obedient. She travels a lot, but unlike my cousin, who is never around, she visits the family a lot and is always present for every social gathering. That's probably why our mother has never adequately tried to correct and shape her into a perfect lady. We talked a lot on the phone, and she seemed to like Jade, unlike everyone in the family. They bonded a lot because she finally had another girl in a similar age group to talk about whatever girls talk and giggle about in private. She got so close to her that she would visit Jade's house and parents a lot, maybe even more than I did. The engagement being called off must have affected her more than I thought it would cause her to pack a lot of her stuff and leave on the next flight to Spain. She rarely keeps in touch with me and my mum cause she's probably still sulking. She'll be back soon, though, once she hears that our cousin will return after a long time. They're both on good terms, which is still surprising to me because he, most of the time, is unwelcoming to the people around him, especially the ones related to our family. On the other hand, I am trying to stick as close as I can to my mother before he returns. I have to show her how much dedication and hard work I've put in for the sake of our family. I've been tirelessly working in one of our smaller branches for some time now. The biggest one was my Dad's, which has been unoccupied for quite some time after his Death. That's the major one in the country and is extremely important because whoever sits at the head of the table sits at the head of all others worldwide. My mother has been saving that seat for no other person than me. I'm sure she's doing all this to train me, push me out of my comfort zone, and turn me into one of the most outstanding leaders that Miller Group has ever seen. Of course, I'm up to the task, so I've been trying to fulfill all her orders and please her in any way possible. That was one of the reasons why I didn't question her when she called off the engagement with Thomas, and I hope that when everything is sorted out, Jade will understand why I've done all I have, and we'll walk toward a future together. She'll, of course, be skeptical about it because of all that has happened, but I know she's an intelligent girl who wants our relationship to grow. Sooner than later, she'll forget everything that has happened, and we'll get back together. As you should expect, I've worked out all the details. I've planned for every single outcome, so I was so unnerved when I overheard my mother on a phone call, which implied that Greyson would return soon. After everything I've done, all the hard work I've put in, the relationships I've destroyed, I won't let him take it all the way. I'll fight for the throne that rightfully belongs to ME! ME! and not him. If he decides he wants war, I'll give him war. I'll find a way to destroy him, his deceitful image, and everything else around him. I'm a Miller, and that's what we're best at.
