Kennedy straightened up. “I think you’re quite bold. You don’t get embarrassed; instead, you make others nervous.”
He feared that if he messed up, she’d be angry with him. But Bella wasn’t in the mood for his words; she just wanted to keep her distance. She saw someone throwing darts, so she walked over there.
Kennedy raised his eyebrows and followed her. Not far away, Derik introduced Mary to Millie and the others, asking them to include her in their games.
Millie smiled, but her expression changed as soon as Derik left.
“Which family are you from? I’ve never seen you before,” she asked Mary.
Mary hadn’t been born into wealth. She admitted candidly, “I’m simply an ordinary worker.”
The women eyed her with contempt.
“I knew it. Just look at her clothes. She doesn’t resemble someone from a wealthy family, does she?”
“How on earth does Derik know her?”
“Derik wants us to socialize with her. Is he pursuing her?”
A group of well-dressed women gossiped about Mary.
