"Maybe that's what triggered her memory loss." My father said as he paced the room.
"Yeah, I mean, she said he was her best friend, and she probably looked up to him like the older brother she didn't have." My mother said with sadness.
"The shock of him treating her badly and abusing her must've affected her too much." My father continued.
"But why would that Deklan person and her parents betray her like this?" My mother asked, anger lacing her every word. I sighed and averted my gaze to Evie. She was lying on her stomach on the floor scribbling on a piece of paper, and god knows where she got it from. She looked so peaceful, so happy. She was beautiful.
"Why aren't you saying anything, son?" My father asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"I don't know what to say," I replied solemnly. "Why would anyone just sell their daughter for money? And if Evie herself and Deklan knew about her true self, didn't her parents know too? If they were bad people, they would've kept her fo
