CHAPTER 361YESTERDAY’S DEBACLE
Hudson awoke the next morning with the memories of the previous day clinging to him. There were knots of frustration in his body, and the events of the previous day replayed over and over in his mind like a broken record.
He turned over in bed, expecting to find Claire beside him, but the other side was empty, the sheets cold to his touch. She had slept as far from him as possible and from the looks of it, had gotten up hours ago to avoid seeing im near her.
After he reprimanded her last night because of her theatrics at the council meeting chamber, she gave him the cold shoulder.
It wasn’t a new thing to him, he and Claire arguing, but he didn’t expect it so soon after a new slate had been turned in his favor.
Hudson sighed, pushing the thoughts of him being the big bad wolf throughout yesterday from his mind.
He needed to focus on mending this rift with Claire, but she wasn’t making it easy due to the fact that she had been avoiding him—barely speaking, barely looking at him.
