CHAPTER 268 AWKWARD SITUATIONS
Hudson woke up the next morning feeling different.
These past few days, he would wake up lonely, frustrated, and tired in the spare room bed, but that seems not to be the case now.
He was in his main bed watching the sunrise. It was dawn at the moment, and the sun was not over the horizon yet, but its dim light filtered through the curtains, making the bedroom partially dark.
Beside him, still sleeping soundly, was Claire; her back was turned towards him, and he could see the rise and fall of her rib.
His mind chose that moment as the perfect time to replay the events of the previous night, but Hudson didn’t want to dwell on it because it was a moment of weakness.
To keep his mind off it, he watched her as she was breathing, steady and slow. But that alone was not enough to keep him grounded because his mind was just as restless.
Hudson sat up slowly, careful not to disturb her, and quietly slipped out of the bed.
