CHAPTER 241 MORE SILENCE

Kael slept on the couch. He woke up the next morning feeling hollow and empty, like a part of him had died. It was like he went on a mission the previous night because he barely slept from heartache and a deep heaviness that settled in his chest. Another reason why he couldn’t find sleep yet was because he feared Lilith would show up again, her rainbow eyes tormenting him. But his sleepless night majorly had to do with Esme’s absence. On a normal morning, the apartment would be filled with Esme singing and the smell of whatever she was cooking enveloping the air. This scenario was the usual morning in his place, but now, the apartment was oddly quiet without Esme around. He had let her leave without asking questions, and after all, he had promised her space and time. Kael did not sleep in their bed, hoping that Esme would return and feel uncomfortable with him by her side, but it seemed unlikely because the place was far too quiet, to his dismay.
