Chapter 16 FIFTEEN

MORGIANA'S POV A witch. Great. Just when I thought my birth origin won't get any weirder. I don't get it, though. My parents know the risk of having a child. Their relationship was forbidden and nature had done them a favor not to grant them a kid. But they asked a witch to make it possible for them. Now, here I am, suffering the consequences of not being wanted anywhere I go. I mean, if I didn't save Giro from those hunters, they still would have proceeded on beheading me or whatever way they do it to kill someone. I'm the only one of my kind. I literally have no people whom I can go to who can protect me and teach me how to become a hybrid. So I'll have to figure this shit out on my own. This is just great. I want to scream profanities. If my parents are watching me right now, I hope they don't have that proud look on their faces. I am not proud and I am not happy with them bringing me into this cruel world. Sighing, I lay on my bed inside the infirmary and closed my eyes but then the door burst open and I saw the school head walking in my direction. Oh, shit. I immediately got up from the bed and sat on the edge as I waited for him. When he was standing in front of me, he looked at me with those sharp eyes as though scanning my whole being. He then looked around and when his eyes landed on the faucet inside the room, he went and turned it on. Full blast. Furrowing my brows, I looked at him and he smiled before he sat on the bed opposite mine. I have only seen the school head twice during my stay in this school. Well, this is the third and I still couldn't see the resemblance between him and his daughter. The school head have this kind look on his face and his eyes were always smiling as though he was constantly thinking of happy memories. Arleigh is the opposite of her father. She always looks like she's thinking of ways to bully her the next time they see each other. "I'm sorry. I like to talk when there is noise," he said as he folded his arms in front of him. I don't believe him but I just nodded. I know he didn't want the wolven ears to hear what he wants to say to me. Something inside me jumped. Is he going to tell me something important? But then my brain went down the dark side as quickly. Or maybe he knows what I am now and is planning to do something to me. I am a hybrid but the latter thought gave me chills. I don't know what I would do. Then again, I don't know if he's capable of hurting someone. "How are you, Ms. Davis?" he asked. His question sounded sincere enough. Before I could answer the question, he continued, "I heard what happened. Mr. de Marcel told me. Are you hurt anywhere?" I doubt if he's really here to ask for my well-being. I am certain he knew what I did to his daughter, Arleigh. Maybe he's full of me hurting students as my way of self-defense. Will I be expelled? I hope so. With all these strange things happening around me, getting expelled would be one of the normal things I still get to have. "I am fine, sir, thanks for asking." We both looked at each other and he was looking at me too-or not. I don't know, his eyes were covered with his glasses and I couldn't really tell where he was looking. "I heard what those girls did and I heard what my daughter did," he started. Right, maybe he's here to really get me expelled. "And I am truly sorry that you had to go through that." What? "Sir-" "My daughter is a bit problematic, I know that. But she's a good kid. Not very good at making friends, though. You can be rest assured that she's receiving the appropriate punishment for her actions. And as for the girls that cornered you in the bathroom earlier, they too will receive punishments accordingly." I was speechless. Not because of the fact that he's punishing them including his own daughter but because of the fact that the school head noticed and knew what had been done to me and was somewhat on my side. I don't know if Alaris had something to do with this or not but I am liking it. He shifted in his seat and I got the impression that he was finally going to say what he came here for. "You seem...quite close with Mr. de Marcel." Here we go. Is he suspecting me as one of Alaris' wolves? As far as I know, he's aware of the wolves and the witches in the town. I'd have to tread carefully while talking to him. "He...Mr. de Marcel actually helped me when he found out that I was mistreated by my aunt and uncle." "You were mistreated?" I nodded. "My parents were already dead. I grew up with my grandma at first but then she died several years after. My aunt was the only relative I have left so I lived with her since then." He nodded as though he has just clarified something. "Perhaps...forgive me if this question seems forward but I am only looking after you, Ms. Davis. Did Mr. de Marcel hurt you in any way?" Oh. This was what he intend to ask. The reason he turned on the faucet so Alaris and Laurent wouldn't hear was that he wants to know if Alaris was hurting me. Not because he discovered I am a hybrid. The thought relieved me somehow and I sighed. "No, sir. Mr. de Marcel has been good to me. He was also the one who saved me from those bullying situations." He nodded but I wanted to ask him things too. "Did you think Mr. de Marcel would take advantage of me?" His eyes widened when he looked in my direction once again. "Heavens, no. I was just wondering because he was always there whenever you were hurt. I wanted to make sure. Please don't get me wrong. I was only looking after you, Ms. Davis." He was thinking that Alaris was the one who did those things to me and pinned the blame on the girls. But that's not what happened. For this one, I figured I didn't need to lie. "Mr. de Marcel wouldn't do such kind of thing, Mr. Hawthorne. He saved me and I am forever grateful. I hope that clarifies your suspicions." I saw the small smile on his face as he nodded in my direction. He stood and placed his hands behind him before walking to the faucet to turn it off. "Thank you, Morgiana for telling me what you know. Just know that you can ask me for help anytime you're in trouble. Even if it involves my daughter. Is that understood?" I smiled and nodded. "I understand, sir." I doubt if he would say the same once he finds out I am not what he thinks I am. *** Time passed quickly and I found myself waking up from the nap. When I looked out the window, the sun was about to set. I couldn't hear the noise of the students outside which means they have probably gone home. What the heck? Am I the only one left here? "They didn't even bother to wake me up?" I muttered as I immediately took my things on the chair. Today had been so weirdly interesting. I learned how to do compulsion and the school head slash town mayor asked me if Alaris was hurting me in any way. I didn't tell him that Alaris planned to kill me after he kidnapped me in my room. Whatever issue Mr. Hawthorne has with Alaris, I have no business with it. I walked out of the infirmary and the hallway was indeed quiet. Where the hell is Alaris and Laurent? They both talk big about not letting anything happen to me and yet they leave me alone in the infirmary? Are they overestimating my being a hybrid too much because if I am going to be honest, I still freak out when I see a spider. I immediately walked down the hall and I was about to reach the end of it when I heard something. My wolf-vampire senses or whatever it is heard something and I know I should just ignore it but my curious self got the better of me. I walked back to where I came from. My hearing could sense faint sounds and I couldn't identify what it was. The surroundings were quiet and my footsteps were too. I went to the second story of the building and the sound was a bit louder. When I walked closer to Alaris' office, I stopped in my tracks immediately and heat crawled up to my face. "I thought we're not doing this again?" said a woman's voice that I could recognize as Ms. Mont. She was moaning in pleasure as he said those words. "Shut up," said a male voice-Alaris'-before I heard another throaty moan from Ms. Mon. Holy mother-are they... "What makes you do this with me, Mr. de Marcel? I'd really like to know," Ms. Mont said in her seductive voice but then I heard Alaris mutter a curse and then a thud. I heard Ms. Mont yelp in pain. "What the heck was that for?" she demanded. "Fix yourself and by the time I get back, I want you gone," Alaris said and then I heard footsteps. I panicked because I know it was Alaris going out of the door. I should hide. I should run and not let him see me standing there, listening as if he was fucking someone. But my feet were frozen. I couldn't move. I should have used some of my skills as a hybrid but my mind was blank, all because I heard what I shouldn't be hearing. The door burst open and Alaris came out. But then he saw me standing in the hallway, eyes wide while looking at him with his disheveled hair and shirt. His eyes went wide when he saw me too but it was only for a short moment. The next thing I knew, was that he was already in front of me and before I could even say something, his hand grabbed mine and dragged me to the stairs on the way to the third floor.
