Chapter nine
ALPHA KALISTA
Alpha Kalista ran his hand through his hair, he has been cooped up in this office for two days straight, he had his meals brought to him and made use of the restroom in the office, he looked at the piles of files heaped on this table, It would be nice to get some sleep at least before the meeting that was taking place later today.
Being an alpha came with its advantages, he could afford to go days without sleep, and still function. He had gotten used to the stress that came along with his position but recently something has been weighing him down, he knew that one day he would have to step down, either he gave up the post or lose his life, he did not believe himself to be invincible but only he should know that.
The more people feared him the better for him, it made things easier. He worried for the welfare of the pack and his daughter although she was the strongest wolf after him he knew that the fact that she was female and that would make things difficult for her.
He wanted her to find her mate already. It was likely to be an alpha, if he was the next in line to lead his pack he would have to hand over to another and take over The blood Born pack cause one alpha cannot lead two packs, hopefully, he has a brother so there would be no confusion.
Although Alyiah could choose to leave the pack and go to his, it would not be allowed by the elders as the Blood Born pack was the strongest so it would be a better decision for the male to come into the pack. The stronger pack cannot go down to the lower pack.
It was in times like this that he wished his wife was alive, she always knew how to calm him, he felt a pang in his chest just thinking about it. The night she died his wolf had violently burst out destroying everything in its path, as soon as he laid eyes on Aliyah he instantly calmed down knowing right there and then that he would give his life in a heartbeat for his child. She helped mend his broken heart.
"Father", Alyiah walked in, Alpha Kalista looked at his daughter she had grown up to look just like her mother's red hair and all, facing down he continued his work completely ignoring her.
"Father" She called again
"What have I told you about knocking young lady" he may love his daughter but that doesn't mean he did not discipline her thoroughly.
One would find it hard to believe she was his only child.
"I'm sorry Alpha" she stepped outside closing the door before she knocked no answer. She stood there for 10 minutes knowing it would take a while before her father granted her permission to enter, she knocked again.
"Enter"
"Thank you Alpha"
"What can I help you with Aliyah"
Aliyah observed her father, he was still looking down at the file before him while speaking with her, it seemed all he knew how to do was work, she had never witnessed him break down or complain. She wished to be an alpha like him one day but she doubted she would ever be as good as he.
"I wanted to confirm if I would accompany you to today's meeting", she needed to go to this meeting it was a very crucial one where plans and strategies were marked out by the packs to address various problems that arose like the rouge situation four years ago. So far, they have not had any attacks due to proper planning and execution of safety measures. Usually, the seven alphas and their betas went but Beta Luke was not on duty and would not be available to go.
The Alpha can choose anybody to accompany him. She had hopes he would choose her.
"No, I have someone else in mind" he replied. Aliyah has never experienced heartbreak before, but if the way she felt right now was how it felt she sympathized with the victims.
"Why?" she asked in disbelief
"I don't need to explain myself to you" Alpha Kalista answered looking her dead in the eye.
