Chapter 13
"I won't sign it! I'll never sign it unless you give me a million dollars!"
Although she was adamant about staying married to Zayn, Willow was more determined to secure one million dollars from him. It was her only hope to pay for Aaron's treatment and save him. Therefore, signing the divorce agreement without a fight was unthinkable.
Despite Willow's desperate struggles, Zayn's grip was unyielding. No matter how she struggled, he maintained his grip on her hand and meticulously penned her name on the divorce agreement.
Finally, the divorce agreement was signed.
As Zayn placed two divorce agreements into a folder, Willow felt her spirit collapse, leaving her utterly devoid of energy.
Zayn was the sole object of her devotion, and despite his torment, her love for him remained unwavering.
She had imagined that a month later, when she was laid to rest, her tombstone would bear the inscription "His Wife." Yet, at that moment, she had nothing to do with Zayn anymore.
Their marriage was over, and they no longer had anything to do with each other!
When she collapsed onto the edge of the bed, Willow's face was already streaked with tears as she looked at Zayn.
"Zayn, can you please give me that one million dollars? I understand your animosity towards me, your desire to see me suffer. However, for the sake of our previous relationship, can you please lend me that money?
"I've been diagnosed with late-stage stomach cancer. You'll soon see me dead, just as you wished. I'm begging you, please, give me that money to save Aaron's life!"
Did she just say cancer?
And it was also late-stage stomach cancer?
Zayn couldn't help but furrow his brow, especially at the mention of death, which sent a sharp pang of pain through his heart.
His eyes held a myriad of emotions as he studied the woman beside the bed. Her complexion was ashen, her clothes a mess, her entire demeanor radiating an undeniable frailty. Could it be that she was indeed suffering from a terminal illness?
In a flash, he pushed the idea aside. She had always been healthy, so how could she possibly have cancer?
She was the embodiment of deception, a pro at playing the victim. How could he fall for her act?
"You're better off dead then!"
Zayn's eyes held a mocking glint, and he had a sardonic smile that could send shivers down anyone's spine.
"Willow, you can just die alongside that bastard son of yours!"
After saying that, Zayn didn't spare another glance as he turned on his heel and left the room.
It wasn't until the door was slammed shut that Willow snapped out of her agonizing stupor.
Zayn's hurtful remarks kept echoing in her mind.
It turned out that she had been blinded by her infatuation, pouring her heart out for someone who didn't deserve it. All she had received in return was his callous remark, "You're better off dead then!"
A wave of anguish washed over her, the intensity of her pain surpassing anything she had ever experienced before.
It turned out that Zayn didn't care about her well after all.
Despite the rudimentary treatment, Willow's wounds still inflicted excruciating pain.
As the excruciating pains of late-stage cancer grew more frequent, Willow curled up at the foot of the bed, drenched in cold sweat.
Suddenly, her phone's ringing echoed through the room, as if demanding attention. When she noticed that it was from an unknown number, she hesitated momentarily before deciding to answer the call.
On the other end of the line was the director, Joseph Dunn, from a production where she had done a short stint as an extra.
Joseph explained that he was currently working on a music video and expressed his belief that her persona perfectly aligned with the requirements of the female lead role. He also insisted that taking on the role would instantly propel her to stardom.
Willow, a woman nearing the end of her life, had never harbored aspirations of stardom. Instead, it was Joseph's generous offer of 100 thousand dollars that piqued her interest.
While 100 thousand dollars was far from the one million dollars she needed, it still offered Aaron a glimmer of hope for survival.
Joseph's invitation to meet at a hotel made Willow wary, as she was well aware of the unsavory practices that often permeated the entertainment industry.
Nevertheless, Joseph reassured her that the purpose of the meeting was strictly to discuss the MV's storyline and that they would be accompanied by several other crew members, including both men and women.
In light of Joseph's unequivocal assurances, Willow felt she couldn't refuse any further without appearing overly cautious or prudish.
Willow quickly put on a long-sleeved shirt to conceal the scars on her body. She applied a subtle touch of makeup to improve her overall appearance and counteract her pale complexion. After popping a painkiller, she quickly made her way to the hotel.
As she reached the door of the designated room, the door abruptly swung open and a corpulent hand forcefully pulled her inside.
