Chapter 29
Sloane grabbed a towel and wiped her damp hair. Droplets of water were still trickling down the strands.
She was wearing a white nightgown that reached her calves, making her look as ethereal as a water lily emerging from the pond.
Her amber eyes landed on Wilder. "Who were you on the phone with? You sounded pretty angry."
Wilder snapped out of his thoughts, pressed his lips together, and said nothing. Instead, he took the towel from her hands and gently dried her hair.
"Easton. He said he wants to talk to you."
Sloane looked at his reluctant yet resigned expression through the mirror and smiled. Her eyes were amused.
"He can talk all he wants; it's not like I want to listen to him. Wilder, you should just change your name to 'Jelly' from now on."
Wilder's fingertips froze for a second, and a faint blush crept up his fair cheeks.
He turned on the hairdryer, trying to drown out her teasing voice.
