Chapter 8 Making Him Confused

Rufus's words got me thinking. I had been staying at his place for over half a month now, and the start of school seemed to be just around the corner. Military training would follow, then attending classes, exams, and juggling studio work – all in all, a very hectic schedule. I wondered if I would be able to adapt to this new lifestyle. Upon hearing that I was about to start school, Ana scrutinized me for a moment, then seemed to realize something. "Oh right, Rufus, speaking of which, Milo is starting school too. Shouldn't we get him some decent clothes and tidy him up a bit?" Hearing Ana's words, Rufus first looked surprised, then immediately nodded. "Look at my memory. Milo has been with us for so long, and I forgot about this." After saying that, Rufus took out his wallet from his pocket and pulled out a stack of money, tossing it to Ana. "Later, take Milo to buy some decent clothes. Don't worry about the money; I had good performance this month, so don't be stingy with it." This... Seeing the stack of money Rufus brought out, which was at least a few thousand, I hesitated a bit. "No need, Rufus. I have enough clothes with me." Before Rufus could respond, Ana interrupted me. "What do you know, kid? Even in college, here in Kisworld, if you dress too plainly, aren't you afraid of being laughed at?" Nodding reluctantly and not daring to refuse Ana's words, I sat down and started eating breakfast. Because Ana had a runway show in the morning, both of them went to the studio. Left at home with nothing to do, I decided to watch TV for a while. However, what surprised me was that as soon as Rufus and Ana left, someone knocked on the door. "Who is it?" As I said this, I ran over to open the door. To my surprise, it was Daria standing at the door. "Sorry, Ms. Spencer, Rufus and Ana just went out. If you're looking for them, you might have to wait until noon." Unexpectedly, when Daria heard that Rufus and Ana had left, a smile appeared on her lips, and she shook her head. "I'm here to see you, young man. Did you sneak out through the window last night? Doing such a dangerous thing, I was really scared when I couldn't find you." Hearing Daria's words, I recalled the thrilling experience from last night. Not bringing it up would be better; just thinking about it made me shudder. "And you accuse me, Ms. Spencer. Why did you push me into the bedroom? We didn't have anything going on, and pushing me in made it even harder to explain." "My husband is excessively suspicious. Usually, he comes home late, but yesterday he came back an hour early. If he had seen you in the bedroom, I'm afraid he would have misunderstood." If he had seen me in the bedroom, wouldn't that lead to an even bigger misunderstanding? Perhaps the misunderstanding would be even greater by then? Looking at Daria, who was explaining herself more and more oddly, I couldn't help but size her up. Only then did I realize that she was still wearing the light pink shawl pajamas from last night. Despite wearing pajamas, she had applied delicate light makeup. "Ms. Spencer, stop explaining. If you don't want to, why would you be so flustered? Do you really have feelings for me?" After saying this, I awaited Daria's reaction. Daria curiously glanced at me and suddenly smiled. "I heard you were honest and straightforward. Why do I feel like you're a bit mischievous? Tell me, do you have any thoughts about me?" "No, not at all." "I don't believe you. If you're not afraid, why didn't you come out to explain? Instead, you jumped out the window?" After saying this, Daria's smile grew wider, and she took two steps toward me. Her big watery eyes stared directly at me, and I could even smell the faint osmanthus fragrance on her. A thin layer of sweat dripped from my forehead. Well, dealing with this kind of girl in a cat-and-mouse game was indeed humiliating. Just being teased by Daria for a while, I surrendered and couldn't look at her. My mind seemed to be in a daze, and I blurted out what I had in mind. "I... I have a guilty conscience. I've never seen a beautiful woman like Ms. Spencer before. I was just too nervous at the time." The sudden sincerity seemed to catch Daria off guard. Looking at my blushing face, she suddenly smiled and said, "Is that true? I'm an old woman who has given birth, and you're interested in me? Milo, tell me, what do you like about me?" At this moment, I felt that the distance between Daria and me seemed to be getting closer again. The distance between us now wouldn't exceed ten centimeters. Lowering my head, I saw that she was almost sticking to me. But gradually, her strength diminished, and in the end, she simply hugged my waist...
