Chapter 22
Hannah and Alexander were meeting in the afternoon, so she wasn't in any hurry to leave the house. She had a leisurely breakfast—or brunch. It was almost 11:00 am, after all.
She wasn't the latest to wake up, though. Penelope was. The latter staggered to the dining table, yawning as she sat down. The maids set the table for her, bringing her a sandwich and sausages.
Penelope gulped down half a glass of milk before taking a big bite of her sandwich, her cheeks puffing out as she chewed. She was deliberately ignoring Hannah.
Before coming downstairs, she'd received a message from Jennifer. The latter had started by asking how she was doing before saying that she didn't think Hannah was a bad woman.
Penelope had initially been a little grateful to Hannah after yesterday's events, but that changed upon seeing Jennifer's message.
