The lackeys in the car, far from being angry that their plan had failed, burst into mocking laughter.
"Useless men. They're so easily scared!"
The car came to a complete stop at the entrance of Harmony Sanctuary, and they yanked me out by my collar. Moments later, two off-road vehicles arrived.
The men stepping out of Darren's cars outnumbered those with Phillip, and their presence alone was enough to shift the balance of power.
Darren stood in the shadows beneath a cherry blossom tree, his black hair tousled by the wind. Our eyes met across the distance.
A sharp knife was pressed against my neck, and one of the lackeys yanked my hair from behind, forcing me to maintain eye contact with Darren.

Connor held a briefcase, his chiseled features hardened with fury. "You want it?" he asked coldly.
"Bring the documents, and this woman might live," Phillip retorted.
