The thought of living under the constant scrutiny of unseen eyes felt as if ants were biting me all over. A suffocating tension loomed over the room. I held my breath, and my fingers clutched the baseball bat tightly. After a moment of hesitation, I yanked the curtains open and swung the bat with all my strength at the buzzing drone hovering in mid-air. The drone fell to the ground with a loud crash and shattered into pieces. I added a few more strikes to scatter its components across the floor. Stepping over the loose screws, I picked up the broken drone with one hand and held the bat with the other.
