Although Jalthoria was a second-tier city, many of its old streets and alleys remained intact, nestled among the towering skyscrapers. The juxtaposition felt out of place. Workers with tools moved briskly through the narrow lanes.
While waiting at a red light, the driver's gaze was drawn to the large group of construction workers coming and going.
"These days, it's trendy to focus on tourism," he remarked. "Our city's old relics have caught their attention. Lately, they've been renovating these old houses, getting them ready to turn into Instagram-worthy spots."
Following his comment, I looked out and realized this particular alley was a place I often visited back in high school.
"Mister, do you know if there's still a dessert shop inside?" I asked.
"Are you talking about the one an old lady used to run? It's still there. I just took my daughter there yesterday to have frozen yogurt!"
