Chapter 6
A look of surprise appeared in Helena's eyes. She was probably wondering why I would reject her touch. After all, I used to crave her touch, but she seldom indulged me.
Annoyed and embarrassed, she slammed the door to the guest bedroom and went into the master bedroom instead. As soon as she left, I fell asleep very quickly.
Ever since not having to overthink things anymore, I realized that it had become a lot easier for me to fall asleep.
Early the next morning, my college professor, Anthony Granger called me. He'd learned that I was leaving the country very soon, but I had no idea where he'd gotten the news from.
He said he wanted to see me off, but I hurriedly rejected him, so he gave up on the idea. However, he then said that he was throwing a get-together and invited me and my classmates over to hang out.
Since he'd put it that way, I didn't find a reason to reject his invitation. But when I went to the restaurant that night, Helena was also there. It made sense, though, since Helena had always been his favorite student.
Jaxon was right next to her. I didn't think that Helena would still bring Jaxon along, even if it was for a classmate gathering like this.
When Helena caught sight of me, she beckoned at me with her eyes, silently telling me to sit down next to her. But I pretended not to have seen her signal.
They looked good together anyway. I shouldn't make myself the third wheel between them.
Jaxon saw me too and shot me a smug grin. Moments later, he looked at me apologetically and said, "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your classmate gathering tonight. It's just that I was feeling so bored at home that Lena decided to bring me along."
