However, she quickly remembered Thomas's words.
Thin lips slightly pursed, "Perhaps it's guilt. After all, he almost killed me."
Thomas smirked at her, "Is it?"
His gaze carried ambiguous meaning.
He didn't continue the topic, "I fabricated a medical record for him. He only knows you have a heart condition, not that you have heart failure."
Just a few words made a big difference.
Typical heart conditions could be managed with bypass surgery.
But heart failure was almost like a terminal illness. Besides prolonging time, there was nothing else to be done.
The ultimate outcome was death.
"Thank you," Elaine said.
While examining her, Thomas spoke lazily, "Your body is already on its last legs. I've given you some special medication. It won't cure you, but it can delay the inevitable and ease your suffering."
"Thank you," Elaine repeated.
