Danny selected a steel shovel without hesitation and began digging into the soil beneath him. His movements were both swift and steady, and before long, a pit about half a meter deep appeared before everyone. Suddenly, an indescribable stench permeated the air, so pungent and foul that it resembled a mix of rotting garbage and excrement, making everyone instinctively want to cover their noses and flee.
Melissa's expression instantly turned serious. She frowned deeply, struggling to endure the stench as she approached the edge of the pit. The soil inside was unnaturally black, in stark contrast to the freshly turned earth around it.
"What is this?... How could this happen?!" Melissa exclaimed in surprise. In her memory, the area should have been covered with new soil after the collapse. As a mining site, there were strict environmental protection measures in place, making such a buildup of waste impossible.
