Chapter 1 Unworthy
When Katherine Bissaksoes returned to the Oris Manor, the four members of the Oris family were having dinner.
Marsha said with concern, "Darlene, don't be afraid, Mom is here to support you. Is that something a human would do? If she does it again, Mom won't forgive her!"
One was a foster daughter who had been carefully taught for over a decade, and the other was a biological daughter who had just returned from the countryside and hadn't met before.
Marsha naturally thought the foster daughter was more important.
Darlene sat at the table, holding a cup filled with mostly hot water. Her fair, slender fingers held the cup, her swan-like fragile neck lowered as she softly said, "Mom, I'm fine. Don't speak ill of my sister like that. My sister and I just haven't spent much time together, and our lifestyles haven't meshed well yet."
The younger brother, who was busy looking at his phone while eating, didn't even raise his head. "Sis, you're just too kind, that's why you keep getting walked over by these rural chickens! I haven't forgotten how she pushed you down the stairs back then!"
Marsha glared at him, scolding, "What nonsense are you saying!"
Seeing his indignant brother and the constantly comforting Marsha, Darlene finally smiled a little.
Catherine was the true heiress of the ancient A country family Oris. The Oris family only discovered this mistake when she was twenty-two years old and brought Catherine back. However, Catherine was loud, rude, and had a wicked nature, which made Marsha's belated motherly love disappear immediately.
It wasn't until Catherine maliciously pushed Darlene down the stairs that Marsha, unable to bear it anymore, kicked Catherine out of the house again, giving her only a small amount of money each month. It wasn't until recently, during the university break, that Catherine returned to the manor for a while.
"Don't say that. After all, she's your biological sister. I'm the one who took someone else's place and couldn't settle down. Now that she's back, I feel much better. The love and money I've enjoyed over the years, I should give them back to her."
After saying this, Darlene lightly furrowed her brows, her expression filled with sorrow.
The younger brother, Jamie, grumbled, "What biological sister! I don't recognize her! No manners, no talent! Disgusting!"
Marsha scolded him, "Shut up!"
Jamie retorted defiantly, "Where did I go wrong? Sis could play the piano at the age of three! She won art awards and singing competitions in elementary school! She got scholarships like picking them up in college! She's beautiful and has taste! And her? What lousy university did she attend? Got expelled after a few years! Her skin is rough like tree bark, so ugly!"
Marsha said, "You're too rude! The Oris family has always spoken politely."
She didn't think her son was wrong, but she was afraid of losing face for the ancient aristocratic family.
"Okay! I won't call that person sister! She even stole money from our house! Is she worthy of being my sister?" Jamie mocked, instructing the servant to cut off the turkey wings.
As Catherine entered, she happened to hear the last sentence.
Ignoring these people, she pushed her luggage straight in.
The weather in Q City, A country, was hot. Catherine wore a simple white T-shirt with a light blue mini denim skirt. She wore a pair of faded sneakers that had been washed countless times, and a pair of sunglasses with an unknown brand hung on her high nose bridge.
The dressing was simple, but she couldn't hide her long legs, slim waist, and perfect body proportions. At over 1.7 meters tall, she was a beautiful sight to behold.
Jamie was stunned for a moment, his gaze shifting to the sunglasses on Catherine's face, disdainfully saying, "Bringing all this trash back home! Such a country bumpkin!"
Marsha frowned, Jamie stopped talking, but stuck out his tongue, constantly using his hand to imitate wearing sunglasses on his face.
Darlene gently said, "Don't make faces." Then she got up to greet her, bent over to pick up the suitcase on the ground, but found it empty when she reached out. She paused, lifted her head, and met Catherine's raised chin and drooping eyelids, feeling a very uncomfortable feeling in her heart.
"No need."
Catherine's hand rested on the handle of the suitcase, gently lifting it, pushing it further away from Darlene.
This appearance of trying to avoid it made Marsha very angry. Without looking at Catherine, she got up and served Darlene a bowl of soup, softly saying, "Come drink some soup, your favorite creamy mushroom soup. Some people don't want your help, why bother with her!"
Darlene looked at the impending conflict, her expression conflicted and self-blaming, saying, "Mom, don't be angry with my sister. It's my fault. I shouldn't have taken her personal belongings without her permission."
That tearful appearance softened Marsha's heart.
"You child, why bother torturing yourself? Mom isn't angry, come drink the soup." Marsha turned her elegant eyes to Catherine and rolled them, "It's still Darlene who knows how to take care of me, unlike some people who don't even say hello when they meet, really ungrateful!"
Jamie saw his sister upset and immediately mocked, "Even from this distance, I can smell a strong odor of earth! It's disgusting, I can't even eat anymore!"
"Jamie, you can't say that to your sister."
Catherine turned her head, grabbed her luggage, and went straight upstairs, leaving the three downstairs staring at each other, a breath stuck in their chests and unable to come out.
Closing the door, seeing this small room again, Catherine's mouth curved slightly upwards.
Over the past few years, she had made a lot of money as a mercenary, bought many large villas and apartments, and had been living there for quite some time. Returning to this small room of only over forty square meters, she felt very uncomfortable all over.
The room was too small, the decoration too simple, simply unbearable.
Catherine "bang" lay on the bed, a hint of dark light flashing in her eyes.
There was no way, she had come back for business, and these things could only be endured for now.
In the evening, the head of the Oris family, Decan Oris, came home.
Catherine had been doing physical training in her room all afternoon, finally waiting for dinner. As soon as Decan sat down, she started eating heartily.
Decan's face darkened immediately, staring at Catherine with displeasure.
Catherine didn't even raise her head, just tasted the delicious food by herself.
Decan stared until his eyes hurt. Feeling embarrassed, he looked away and said sternly, "There's no discipline for a young girl! What kind of appearance is this! Look at Darlene! That's what a noble lady, a young lady, should look like!"
Catherine calmly said, "Oh." Then she sped up her eating speed, devouring all the delicious meat dishes like grilled
steak, roasted chicken, and roasted lamb.
Jamie watched as Catherine took the last chicken wing, furious, he threw down his knife and fork and picked up his phone.
"What are you doing! Don't look at your phone while eating!"
