Chapter 43: Clarifying Rumors
Haeqin wasn't sure if Dickson's words were a test or sincere; after all, he hadn't come out to clarify the rumors back when they were rampant. Who knew if he was deceiving her now because of her current status as his fiancée.
Haeqin lifted her tea cup and smiled gently at Dickson. "I understand, Mr. Dickson, that you're not intentionally making things difficult for me."
"Haeqin, I never meant to make things difficult for you," Dickson, being as intelligent as he was, knew that Haeqin didn't believe him, and he wasn't in a rush to explain.
He pressed a button on the table, and the butler promptly appeared at the door.
The butler's voice came through the door into the room. "Master, what are your orders?"
"Please escort Miss Haeqin's attendant inside," Dickson instructed loudly.
"No need for that trouble," Haeqin raised her voice so the butler could hear. "Since you don't like meeting strangers, I wouldn't feel right insisting."
