Chapter 7 Stole Her Life
Realizing Megan's easy compliance, Emily becomes suspicious.
She warned, "If you dare sabotage this arrangement, don't blame me for being unkind to Hannah."
"Aren't you afraid I'll record you?"
"You wouldn't dare!"
"Do not resort to threats regarding Grandma all the time. You should be praying for her longevity. Without her, you have no hold over me."
These words left Emily seething, yet without a retort to offer.
Extracting a card from her purse, she handed it to Megan.
"Purchase some upscale attire, I'll send you the location later!"
Megan nonetheless accepted the card.
"Do not show him your impoverished taste!"
Emily glanced disdainfully at Megan as she stalked away in her high heels.
Megan, having donated all the money to the orphanage, returned to Hannah's ward.
Unexpectantly, Emily and Sophie still lingered.
"Our company was founded by you, Hannah. You can't stay out of it."
Emily urged Hannah to take out her savings to fill the financial void of the company.
It could temporarily alleviate the immediate crisis.
Sophie concurred, "Grandma, you can't abandon your real kin, can you?"
Sophie would never allow Megan to inherit Hannah's property.
Hannah just learned that Johnson Holdings' downfall was due to the production of toxic paper.
Her son would compromise his morals for profit!
"There's nothing I could do!" Hannah declared.
Emily, infuriated by the response, blurted, "What good is the Johnson's ruin to you?"
Megan's expression darkened,
"Grandma requires rest. I must ask you both to depart."
Emily angrily said, "I paid for this ward, and you're kicking me out?"
"From now on, I'll pay."
"Even if you can afford it, you're spending Hannah's money!"
Megan's eyes suddenly turned sharp, "That's enough."
Her powerful aura made Emily tense up, and Emily immediately pulled Sophie out of the ward.
There's no benefit in angering Megan now. They can deal with her later!
Hannah suspiciously looked at Megan.
"Why did they leave? What did you talk about?"
Emily was someone who insisted on arguing even without a reason.
To leave in such a desolate manner wasn't normal at all.
Megan wouldn't tell Hannah that Emily was afraid of her backing out of marrying Myles.
"Grandma, Emily thinks I'm coveting your inheritance, so she warned me a few times. The reason I can suppress her is because I have a recording of her badmouthing you."
Hannah didn't doubt Megan's words.
She held Megan's hand.
"Megan, there is a box in my wardrobe at home. Go and get it for me."
The will and asset proofs were not safe to keep at home, so it would be better to leave them with her trustable granddaughter.
"Alright, I'll go get it and bring you lunch later."
After helping Grandma lie down, she left the hospital and took a taxi to the Johnson's.
It was a twenty-minute drive.
Megan had been here a few times, and the security guard recognized her.
Just as she arrived, she heard voices coming from the living room, mentioning her name.
"Sophie, Megan is now using marriage as her golden ticket. Will she agree to sleep with other men?"
"Threaten her with Hannah, she won't dare not to compromise."
"Then we secretly record it, and we will completely have a hold on Megan. She will have to sleep with whoever we want her to."
Hearing this, Megan's lips curled in mockery.
These two fools thought they could scheme against her!
Just as she was about to ring the doorbell, she heard Sophie's voice again.
"When Megan is of no more use, we'll use her sex videos to anger Hannah to death!"
Megan's hands clenched tightly, and her eyes filled with anger.
She would make them pay the price for it!
-
The sound of the doorbell interrupted the venomous conversation between them.
Seeing that it was Megan who had come, they panicked, wondering if she had heard their conversation.
-
Emily asked angrily, "Why did you come here?"
Megan had already composed herself and said expressionlessly, "To take something for Grandma."
Emily, who didn't see anything strange, put her mind at ease and opened the door.
"Just a bunch of junk."
Megan ignored her and went to the backyard.
After finding the box, Sophie stopped her way.
"Open it. I need to know what you took."
She knew very well that the box contained Megan's childhood toys and photos, so she was particularly unhappy.
It was her who saved Hannah, but in Hannah's eyes, there was only a fake granddaughter who stole her life.
She wanted to smash Megan's toys.
Megan knew that Sophie was just seeking trouble, but obediently handed the box to her.
Sophie undid the latch, and the box suddenly fell.
Her long nails got stuck in the latch's seam. They were turned outward, bleeding profusely.
Excruciating pain struck, and her scream resounded.
Megan picked up the box from the ground, her voice filled with gloating.
"Oh, Sophie, why didn't you catch the box? You ended up hurting yourself. Go and bandage it quickly."
After saying that, she left quickly.
Sophie watched Megan's back with her eyes bloodshot, wishing she could tear her apart alive.
She clenched her teeth tightly, muttering under her breath, "Megan, you won't be living for long!"
Megan felt the burning gaze on her back, but she didn't pay any attention to it.
On her way back to the apartment, she received a message from Emily.
"At eight tonight, Thebia, private room 306."
Megan checked the information of the bar and found out that it was owned by Myles.
She was not afraid of Myles.
Thinking about the other men mentioned by Emily, she thought they could be of good use.
She hacked into Sophie's phone and checked her call records.
At a glance, she saw a message she had sent ten minutes ago.
"Harry, tonight at nine, Thebia, the person you're interested in will be there. "
-
Henry replied instantly, "Once it is settled, you'll get a bunch of money."
Harry Moore, a member of the second wealthiest family in the city.
He often took advantage of the Moore family's name to act arrogantly.
What was interesting was that Harry was actually five years older than James but still his nephew.
Megan sent a message to James.
"Come and have lunch with me at noon."
With her relationship with James, if she wanted to deal with someone from the Moore family, it would be better to inform him.
Moreover, she needed his help in forging Dragon Seal.
