Chapter 1 Falling into Her Arms
Megan had just come out of a shop when her phone rang.
The caller was her foster mother Emily Johnson.
She hung up directly.
Johnson Holdings had just been exposed for producing low-quality toilet paper and was being investigated, which meant they would have to pay a hefty fine.
At a time like this, Emily was calling her. It couldn't be anything good!
While thinking this, Megan received a threatening message from Emily.
"If you want Hannah to be fine, answer the phone!"
Soon, the phone rang again.
Hannah was her foster grandmother, who was also Megan's weak spot.
She suppressed her anger and walked into an empty alley to answer the call.
"What's the matter?"
Emily ignored Megan's indifference and said arrogantly, "Our company is in trouble and needs a large amount of capital. You need to marry Myles to help solve the crisis."
"Although he is old, he knows how to take care of young lady. If you marry him, you'll live a luxurious life. It's a good deal."
After listening to Emily's shameless words, a cold smile appeared on Megan's face.
She used to be raised by Emily who thought she was her real daughter. At the age of seven, the Johnson family found out the truth and she was kicked out. Megan lost her surname and was cut off ties with the Johnson family.
Now they had nothing to do with her!
"Give this great opportunity to Sophie."
Myles was indeed wealthy, but he was an alcoholic who abused women and had promiscuous relationships. He was also an old bald man.
Emily knew Megan wouldn't agree, she became furious.
"You're just a worthless bitch. If you don't marry Myles, I'll cut off Hannah's treatment and let her die!"
When Megan was kicked out of the Johnson and couldn't find her biological parents, she had nowhere to go. It was Hannah who spent money to send her abroad.
It could be said that Hannah gave her life.
Emily knew very well that as long as she controlled Hannah, even if she asked Megan to become a prostitute, she would obediently comply.
Megan cared most about her grandmother. Seeing Emily using her safety as a bargaining chip, she clenched her hand holding the phone, and a hint of killing intent flashed in her eyes.
She wasn't afraid of the Johnson cutting off her grandmother's treatment fees, but she was afraid that Sophie would refuse to help her grandmother.
Her grandmother had a blood disease and needed regular bone marrow transplants, and Sophie happened to be a match.
With this in mind, she suppressed her anger and said, "I'll discuss this matter with you tomorrow."
Of course, she wouldn't marry Myles.
Reflecting on the current predicament of the Johnson, Emily's tone carried a trace of impatience as she insisted, "We must discuss it now!"
The sooner the company's scandal is addressed, the lesser the damage will be.
Megan, however, firmly declined, "It's impossible. The earliest I can manage is this evening."
With grandmother advancing in years, her constitution has become exceedingly fragile following her illness. Consequently, her dietary needs require meticulous attention, and it is she who oversees every meal of the day.
Emily, worried that she was pushing too hard and Megan would regret, agreed, "Fine, this evening then."
Megan hung up the phone and let out a sigh of relief.
She had to find a way to cure her grandmother's illness or find another bone marrow donor, otherwise, she would always be controlled by her heartless foster mother!
Megan was about to leave the alley when she suddenly smelled a strong smell of blood.
She wasn't someone who liked to meddle in other people's business, so she pretended not to smell it.
But before she could turn around, a man in a black suit stumbled towards her.
Megan quickly sidestepped, skillfully avoiding him.
However, the man grabbed her arm and used it to steady himself.
Looking at the bloodstains on her sleeve, her eyebrows and eyes filled with displeasure. Megan forcefully shook him off.
Joseph took a step back. Leaning against the rough wall, his bloody palm scraped.
He looked at Megan.
Her hair pinned up, and her bangs swayed gently in the wind.
Her delicate and exquisite facial features exuded the charm.
At this moment, her eyes narrowed coldly and fiercely, full of aggression.
"I'm sorry."
Just as Joseph finished apologizing, a group of men wielding iron rods and knives rushed into the alley.
The alley was blocked.
The group of menacing men didn't expect to encounter a young lady in such a secluded location.
After a moment of shock, a wicked smile appeared on their faces.
They didn't expect to come across such a beauty when they were about to kill someone.
"Hey, girl."
After saying that, the man at the front lifted an iron rod and swung it towards Megan.
In the eyes of these men, she was just a delicate girl who would only cry.
They could incapacitate her with unconsciousness then kill Joseph. After that, it's gonna be a night of erotic excitement.
Megan coldly watched the approaching men, a mocking smile appearing on her face.
Thinking that Megan was scared, Joseph pulled her behind him and kicked the man's wrist.
-
Bones shattered, and the iron rod flew out of his hand.
Joseph caught the iron rod and smashed it hard on the man's head.
Before the other men could reach them, he pushed Megan away.
"Run, don't look back. Call the police when you're safe."
He wouldn't involve innocent people.
After saying that, Joseph ignored his shattered wound and rushed towards the group of people who were trying to kill him.
Megan didn't leave.
She watched the man's attacking and defensive movements, and her eyes flickered.
It's military combat skills.
Watching the man who was willing to get injured to protect her, a scene from a long time ago flashed in her mind.
There was also a person like him who protected her with his life.
"The bad guys are coming. Run!"
She couldn't save him back then, but now she could save the man in front of her.
Megan took off the hairpin from her head. Her hair cascaded down, exuding a sexy and enticing aura.
She held the hairpin and rushed to him.
The assassin rushed towards her, too.
"Be careful!"
Just as Joseph shouted, the assassin's iron rod swung towards Megan's shoulder.
Megan dodged to the side. She grabbed the assassin's wrist and forcefully redirected the iron rod, which heavily hit his right shoulder.
The hairpin in her other hand was stabbed into his leg.
The sound of bones breaking and a piercing scream rang out simultaneously.
This sudden change happened in an instant. When the other assassin reacted, his companion had already fallen.
He immediately kicked towards Megan's waist, and the knife in his hand stabbed towards her heart.
Megan grabbed his ankle and twisted it hard.
With a crack, his ankle dislocated.
When the excruciating pain struck, the blood-stained hairpin pierced through the assassin's hand. His knife fell.
The next second, Megan's elbow hit his temple.
His vision went black, and he fell to the ground. He was convulsing, losing his ability to move.
No one expected that this young lady was such a ruthless character!
The remaining assassin, fearing that she would ruin their plan to kill Joseph, shouted, "Lady, I advise you not to meddle in this."
Megan curled her lips in a cold smile.
She hadn't planned to interfere, but these people had ill intentions towards her first.
Now that they knew she wasn't easy to mess with, but it's too late.
"I've already in!"
The leader shouted, "Kill Joseph Martinez first!"
Hearing the name, Megan was surprised for a moment.
She didn't expect that the bloodied and unrecognizable man in front of her was the richest man in Sledeshly.
Seeing Joseph being surrounded and gradually losing ground, she rushed forward.
The sound of wailing filled the narrow alley, but soon it returned to silence.
Megan wiped her hairpin clean. She tied up her loose hair and was about to call the police.
Joseph held her phone with his bloody hand and weakly said, "Don't call the police. Call 158******."
Just as he finished speaking, his vision went black. He fell into Megan's arms.
