Chapter 57 Can We Not Talk About It?
“Why did you defend Linda just now?” Alan suddenly asked out of the blue.
I looked at him, puzzled, and asked, “Why wouldn’t I? She was almost hurt. Defending her seems pretty normal, doesn’t it?”
Alan pressed his lips together and continued, “But isn’t she your rival in love? You weren’t like this with the other women who came after me.”
I sighed softly, “You’re right; I did treat rivals like that. But Linda isn’t my rival anymore because, Alan, I don’t love you anymore. Do you understand?”
After saying that, I gave Alan a serious pat on the shoulder. “You should go back. Your little lover had a scare today. You really need to comfort her.”
With a nonchalant wave, I turned and walked away, not wanting to linger on something that didn’t belong to me.
When I finally reached the hotel entrance, I took a deep breath.
I wasn’t as carefree as I made myself out to be.
