Chapter 39 Finding Lily
By the time I arrived at Kevin’s house, it was a complete mess. Furniture was overturned, and broken glass littered the floor.
Inside, a man who bore a striking resemblance to Kevin was shouting and hurling punches at him. "You idiot! You’ve messed with the wrong people. If your sister ends up dead, it’s on you, and you’ll be a murderer!"
This man was Kevin’s father, Dean, who was often found in a drunken stupor.
When I saw Dean raising his fist to hit Kevin again, I shouted, “Stop!”
Yelling like that sent a shock of pain through my chest, where I was already injured, and I clutched it tightly.
Dean froze with his hand in mid-air and turned his fierce gaze toward me.
“Who’s this woman, daring to meddle in my family’s business?” Dean’s tone was harsh and filled with disdain.
I stared back coldly. “I’m Kevin’s friend, and I can help him find his sister.”
