Chapter 50: A Sense of Normalcy
"Chase, please, we need to go to the police," I said calmly, trying to find the reasonable part of him. He ran his hand through his hair, which I'd learned he did in one of two situations. Either he was trying to be sexy, or he was seriously worried.
"That is not a good idea, Aria. Trust me, alright? The cops aren't always the solution," Chase replied, finally calming down but not entirely thinking clearly.
"Maybe you can make a deal. Just get rid of Thomas, and you can go free." I hoped he could see my side of things. I didn't understand why he was making this so difficult.
"No, Aria. Listen," he said and put his head in his hands for a moment before looking up at me.
"Thomas has a friend on the force. There have been past… problems, and they always go away. One time, the tables were turned on the whistleblower," he explained. It didn't seem right or fair.
