Chapter 27: Daytime Disaster
Another ding. I could not turn off my phone fast enough. I tried to unlock it, but it didn't take my password. I kept hitting the wrong button. This usually only happened when I just woke up and still had blurred vision, but I was not asleep at the moment. Although, I wish I were.
Chase moved his finger quickly and sent another message. The silence grew, and it felt heavy. I finally got it unlocked and eventually turned off the notification sound.
"What's on your phone?" he asked quietly.
"Nothing," I replied in a guilty voice that was almost inaudible, staring at him with wide eyes. I didn't like where this was going. He knew, and he had to.
"Give me your phone, now," he growled.
"No way," I said and tried to hold it away from him, but that didn't work well enough.
"Aria! What the hell?" He snatched the phone from my hand. I could already feel my brain trying to make excuses for what I'd done.
