Chapter 116: Dead Eyes

Earlier that day…
"I'm fighting every urge within me not to call in sick right now," I said as I stumbled out of bed and headed to the bathroom. I slowly showered, trying to get ready while telling myself why a woman had to go through such a thing, especially at this time of the month.
"Oh, God," I doubled over as I felt a cramp shoot through me. I spent the rest of the morning doubled over in pain while getting ready for work. By the time I reached the office, Damian had a look of utter shock on his face, which soon bloomed into amusement. Seeing him like that was rather comical—the way his face morphed, the way his eyebrows widened with surprise as he ran over to me and held me by the shoulders with so much tenderness.
"I'm fine," I said, lightly pushing him away and frantically looking around for anyone who might have seen us.
"You're not," he said, caressing my cheek.
"Stop that." I swatted his hand away. "Anybody could see us and—" He didn’t allow me to finish talk
