She seemed rather happy with herself. Unfortunately, if she knew that she hit the nail on the head, I didn't think she would stay. I shrugged, however, and then chuckled.
"I'm a simple guy with simple needs. My past isn't shady, and everything is as simple as it can be. Yes, I have a few investments here and there, but nothing major. No fancy stuff." I chuckled and then suddenly remembered the McLaren I had parked outside. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone. "Give me a minute," I said with a smile. "It's Harold."
"Oh," she said, a smile reaching her eyes for the first time that evening. "Tell him I said hi. And tell him it's the weekend—he shouldn't stress you out. You are my assistant, and I'd like it if you were fully operational by Monday."
My hand squeezed her slim shoulder, giving her flesh a hearty squeeze before I left the restaurant momentarily.
