Deborra slammed tennis balls one after another, rapidly emptying a small cart. She finally turned to Emma, wiping sweat with a towel. Her gaze mixed scrutiny with disdain. "Emma? From South Florivera?"
"Yes," Emma replied.
"Play tennis?" asked Deborra.
Being immersed in the arts by the Blue family, Emma became a maestro in music and painting, leaving no time for physical training. Her athletic ability was notably lacking. "No, I don't."
Swinging her racket, Deborra forcefully returned a ball shot by the machine. "Tennis isn't exactly a high-end sport. You can hire a private coach for just a few hundred bucks a lesson. Your folks are too tight to cough up that kind of cash?"
'A few hundred bucks, just like that—a month's living expenses for many ordinary folks,' Emma thought to herself, biting her tongue. "What do you want from me?"
