Chapter 5 Hmm, Responsibility
"Since my father passed away and my mother suddenly fell ill, and your sudden appearance, I thought, why do all the bad things happen to me? But now, I accept it all, after all, my mother is slowly changing," Eliana confessed to Nicholom for the first time.
She wasn't aware that when Nicholom found her, he already knew everything about her.
"You are very strong," Nicholom looked at her meaningfully for a few seconds before speaking.
Eliana couldn't tell whether he was praising her or just being polite. But she didn't care.
For her now, praise was unnecessary. No woman likes to go through trials and tribulations. Courtesy was all she could thank him for, at least he was spending time with her.
"Thank you sincerely for helping me in my most difficult times," she looked at Nicholom, "I will abide by the agreement. Whenever your mother needs me, I will do my best to cooperate."
"Okay," Nicholom said coldly, looking down at her with an air of superiority, his icy words spilling from his mouth.
The atmosphere was heavy, and as he prepared to leave the ward, Eliana hurriedly got up.
"Anna," Meiya's voice suddenly sounded.
Eliana couldn't believe it, pinching her thigh hard, she looked at Meiya, making sure she hadn't misheard, was Meiya calling her?
She dared not speak now, her eyes widened, afraid to blink, afraid it was a dream, and Meiya was still the same.
"Anna, come see me," Meiya smiled at Eliana.
Tears welled up in Eliana's eyes instantly. She tried to control her emotions, squatting down to hold Meiya's hand, saying softly, one word at a time.
"Mom... Mom."
"Don't cry, you've worried yourself," Meiya reached out tremblingly to wipe Eliana's tears, her face also showing some sadness.
Finally looking at the third person in the ward, Meiya asked, "Who is this?"
"I'm Nicholom, Eliana's husband," Nicholom hesitated for a moment, choosing his words carefully.
He knew that at this moment, he had to steady everyone's emotions.
"You're married?" Meiya asked Eliana, who nodded after a pause.
"Nicholom is very good to me, you can rest assured!" Eliana didn't intend to tell Meiya the truth about the marriage, not wanting her to feel too guilty.
"I will fulfill the duties of a husband, rest assured," Nicholom also squatted down, speaking to Meiya.
And the preconceived Eliana felt grateful to Nicholom.
Since Meiya had not fully recovered, the doctor suggested that she be observed for a while longer, so she remained temporarily in the hospital, ready for anything at any time.
"Thank you for comforting my mother just now. I want to ask you not to tell her about the agreement we signed."
Leaving the ward, Eliana hesitated for a moment before asking Nicholom to keep the agreement hidden.
Nicholom nodded. In fact, the agreement was just a means to force her to comply at the time.
After saying goodbye to Meiya, they didn't return to Cloud Lake Manor, but instead stayed in a high-end center in the city center.
"Where is this?" Eliana asked Nicholom.
"It's convenient here, my residence, I don't often go back to the manor," Nicholom replied.
Eliana understood. The life of the wealthy was extravagant.
"This is Amy, in charge of taking care of you," Nicholom introduced.
"Okay."
That night, Eliana had a hearty dinner and then took a comfortable hot bath.
"Madam, I've put rose petals in the bathtub for you, and some milk to help you sleep, ensuring that your skin becomes smooth."
"The bathrobe is on the shelf in the bathroom, you can take it easily, if you need anything, just call me."
Amy's meticulousness made Eliana feel pleasantly surprised.
She didn't know how long she had soaked, she just felt extremely comfortable, and soon drowsiness overcame her.
She climbed out of the bathtub in a daze, intending to open the door to get the bathrobe, but was bumped into by a solid body.
"Ah..." Eliana screamed loudly in fright.
At this moment, even Nicholom was a little stunned.
Eliana had nothing to cover her body, completely exposed in front of him.
"Why are you here?" Eliana hastily put on her bathrobe, her face blushing red.
"Damn it!" He cursed and threw Eliana onto the bed before leaving.
The next morning, Amy apologized to Eliana, who understood that Nicholom must have instructed something.
Eliana said it was okay, knowing that Nicholom had probably left early, she was also preparing to go somewhere.
Lime Apartments.
Oliver and Rebecca were surprised and flustered to see Eliana.
"Why are you here?" Rebecca asked nervously.
Eliana sneered and said, "Can't I come? Forgot to tell you, my mother is also doing well."
"Then you shouldn't come to my house, you're bad luck, get out!" Rebecca scolded and drove Eliana away.
Eliana didn't want to pay attention to Rebecca's unreasonable behavior and asked Oliver, "My father's company went bankrupt, did you do something? Aren't you afraid of retribution?"
Oliver rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly and scolded, "Everyone's fate is different! Your father was incompetent, and he died too quickly! Can you blame me for that?"
Eliana glared at Oliver.
The desire for revenge gathered at her fingertips, nails rubbing against flesh, but she resisted the urge to rush up and bite Oliver to death. She didn't have the ability to prove that the bankruptcy of the company was related to Oliver, she had to endure it.
She clenched her teeth and asked faintly, "Will you face retribution?"
Oliver's tone was evasive, "What is retribution, you have it, what are you?"
She raised her chin sorrowfully and arrogantly, "Thing, my father was very good to you, since you despise him, why work with him? I came here today to find out, I don't want to be confused."
For such a long time, she had replayed everything that had happened.
In the future, she would never trust anyone again.
If they meet again, she will definitely come for revenge!
Watching Eliana leave resolutely, Oliver's heart suddenly felt a dull pain.
