Chapter 3 Trading Life for Blood
At night, an unexpected visitor shattered the tranquility of the manor.
"Nicholom, who is this young lady?" Morris Lom's cold voice came.
"Dad, my wife, Eliana," Nicholom introduced casually.
"I don't accept," Morris Lom said coldly.
"Slowly, you will accept," Nicholom replied, unperturbed, his tone neither hot nor cold.
"You want her to save your mother," Morris Lom stated his thoughts in his powerful aura.
But before he could continue, he was stopped by Nicholom's fierce gaze and had to keep quiet.
At half-past nine, Morris Lom's departure left Eliana's palms slightly relaxed, her hands sweaty from nervousness or warmth, she couldn't tell.
"What's wrong with your mother?" Eliana watched Morris Lom leave, puzzled by his words earlier.
"You want to know." Nicholom said indifferently. Eliana turned around, meeting his gaze, which contained a sadness she couldn't quite understand.
"Are you okay?" Eliana felt the softest part of her heart being tugged.
Nicholom didn't respond, his expression still indifferent, and then he drove away.
Eliana wandered aimlessly around the manor. A cave caught her attention, and as she approached, a cold breeze swept over her, making her shiver.
"Is anyone there?" She stood at the entrance of the cave and asked tentatively.
No one answered.
So, she mustered her courage and walked in. What she saw was a foggy, icy scene, and in the center of the cave, there was a square-shaped something?
Eliana hesitated to approach, and then, suddenly, she was startled.
A dead person, a coffin? Someone was lying inside.
Eliana took a deep breath, her mind filled with one thought: "Get out of here, now!"
But as she turned back, she saw a group of wolves, and her legs gave out beneath her.
"Don't come... don't come near me..." Eliana shouted in despair, retreating continuously.
"Miss Anna, don't be afraid, they won't harm you!" a deep voice came.
A teenager in a white T-shirt walked in from the cave entrance, and all the wolves bowed their heads. Eliana watched them leave.
"You... who are you?" Eliana's tongue was tied, and she struggled to speak.
"Miss Anna, call me Lu Qi. These wolves are sentient beings and won't hurt you," the boy said.
Eliana was stunned, looking at everything in front of her, she was terrified, but after the shock wore off, she fainted.
"Did she faint?" Nicholom rushed in anxiously.
On his way to the company, his phone monitor alerted him of an intrusion and he hurriedly informed Lu Qi, then turned the car around and raced back.
"She's okay, just scared," Lu Qi assured confidently.
This Miss Anna had quite an entrance.
"Young master, we must save the lady as soon as possible. You didn't tell Miss Anna about it!" an old man, clutching his chest with his right hand and supporting himself with his left hand, knelt down to Nicholom.
"Hiss..." Eliana gradually woke up amidst the pain.
All three men looked at her, silently thanking their stars.
"Are you awake? Are you feeling any discomfort?" the old man asked anxiously, his voice slowly becoming gentle. Nicholom and Lu Qi exchanged a glance. Wasn't this the butler of the wolf clan who said one word and meant it?
Eliana hurriedly got up and approached Nicholom, explaining, "I accidentally stumbled upon it, it wasn't intentional."
"Miss Anna, we didn't mean to hurt you. We just ask you to save our matriarch. Now, only you can save her! I beg you!" The old man finished speaking and continued to kowtow to Eliana.
"Please clarify, who is the matriarch? And how can I save her?" Eliana supported the old man, stopping him from kowtowing.
"The matriarch is..." Before the old man could finish speaking, a palm wind struck, causing him to cough up blood and fly back against the wall.
"Why did you hit him? Are you okay?" Eliana was stunned, then helped the old man and shouted to Nicholom.
Nicholom felt something unusual in his heart. He knew the old man was loyal, but he was inexplicably flustered when he was about to tell Eliana. He remained silent, turned around, and left, followed by the wolves at the cave entrance bowing their heads.
"Miss Anna, the matriarch is Nichol's mother. He will tell you the rest, but for the safety of our people, he can no longer bleed. Except for activating your blood, there is no other choice," Lu Qi spoke up, worried.
"Miss Anna, if the young master doesn't tell you tonight, I will wait for you here tomorrow. Whether you come or not, it's up to you to decide," the old man said, ignoring the blood at the corner of his mouth, then chased after Nicholom.
What on earth is going on? There was too much information, and Eliana couldn't digest it all for a while. She had been scared just now, but now she wasn't so afraid of the person lying in the coffin.
So, she reached out and slowly looked at the person inside the coffin. To be precise, she wanted to see the person's face clearly.
It did bear some resemblance to Nicholom.
Filled with questions, Eliana felt the need to clarify. After all, it was a matter of life and death.
"The place where my mother lives is called Jade Peak, ruled by the wolf clan. Both wolf and human live here. For thousands of years, the two have maintained intermarriage, trade, and complete integration into their respective worlds, until..." Nicholom's eyes began to gleam with bloodlust
.
"Who would have thought that there would be traitors within the wolf clan? The eldest son of the Wolf King actually made a contract with outsiders, killed the Wolf King, and established himself as king. After being discovered, my mother, a mere woman, resisted him for four days and nights. The eldest son was defeated miserably and fled Jade Peak with the remaining wolves. But my mother, injured in the chaos, disappeared without a trace." Nicholom glanced at Eliana.
"Later, while she was injured, she met Morris Lom and married him quickly. They had me, but the good times didn't last long. Father, influenced by someone, became very cold towards mother. It wasn't until I gained control of the entire family that I found out mother had been imprisoned with humans all along. She refused to harm innocent humans, constantly suppressing her nature in captivity. When she was rescued, she was beyond medical help, with only a few months left to live."
"But your blood can save her, trading life for blood."
Eliana listened in shock, but also accepted it. But her blood, saving a life, did it have to be so ironic?
"Your blood, once in a hundred years, that's why..." Nicholom paused.
