Chapter 225: Futile
Not being able to concentrate on the script didn't mean Eliana could fall asleep easily.
After lying in bed with her eyes open for half an hour, she realized that she was bound to have a sleepless night.
Her mind kept going over the things Nick had told her, but she couldn't make sense of any of them. She would start thinking about one thing only to jump to another before reaching any conclusions.
She didn’t know what time she finally fell asleep, but she was woken up by the ringing of her phone the next morning.
Without opening her eyes, she reached for the phone on her bedside table and, relying on muscle memory, answered it.
A sleepy, nasal “Hello” came out of her mouth.
Nick paused on the other end and then asked, "Are you still in bed?"
Eliana, recognizing the familiar voice, was confused for a second before waking up completely.
“What time is it?” she asked loudly.
Nick pulled the phone away from his ear slightly and then replied, "It’s 8:30."
