Just with that one sentence, Dillon's expression darkened.
A chill went down Baxter's spine. Knowing he had struck a nerve, he finally shut up.
The study fell into an eerie silence.
What felt like an eternity passed before Baxter gave up and let out a sigh.
"So, what do you plan on doing next?"
Dillon felt lost at the question. It was unusual for him not to have everything figured out.
Still, a voice in his head told him—if he didn't bring Estelle back, he'd regret it.
Five years ago, when he first learned she was dead, there had been no sense of relief. For five whole years, he had nightmares without end.
Now that she had come back alive, he refused to let someone who could stir his emotions walk out of his life again.
Watching Dillon struggle to answer, Baxter sighed again. By now, he had a rough idea of what Dillon was thinking.
