Chapter 60 I'm Late
The scorching sunlight poured down on Sierra, but she felt no warmth. Her eyes were fixed on the three-way intersection ahead.
Just a little longer—if she could make it there, she could hail a cab.
But she hadn't eaten all day, and escaping through the window had drained much of her energy. After walking for so long, her body felt utterly exhausted, and her eyes were beginning to blur.
"Sierra, just hold on a bit longer. You can't collapse now." She forced herself to stay strong, giving herself a mental pep talk as she pinched the flesh on her thigh. It brought her a few seconds of clarity, but her vision quickly blurred again.
When Theo drove by, he spotted Sierra immediately. A glimmer of light flashed in his eyes as he quickly stopped the car, opened the door, and ran toward her.
Sierra vaguely saw a dark figure rushing toward her, but she couldn't make out the person's face. Her body swayed unsteadily until she could no longer hold on and collapsed onto the ground.
