Chapter 13 Dreaming

The words struck Benson's heart with the sharpness of a dagger. Sophie continued speaking with feigned concern. "Mr. Gray, I'm just worried that you've been misled. Sierra asked to break up with you and blamed the reason on the two of us. "But what if she was the one who fell for someone else first? I don't mind being misunderstood, but I'm afraid you'll be hurt by what others might think." Benson didn't reply, but his expression darkened. His fists clenched tightly at his sides. Her lips curled into a subtle smirk, relishing the triumph hidden in the shadows. Meanwhile, Sierra was taken to the hospital by Theo to have her wounds rebandaged. By the time she got home, it was late at night. After washing up, she took the medication prescribed by the hospital and lay down on her bed. Within moments, she drifted off to sleep, completely unaware of her phone flashing incessantly on the bedside table, muted and unnoticed. That night, Sierra didn't sleep well. In her dream, she lay sprawled on the floor, helpless and vulnerable. Benson held Sophie in his arms, towering above her with a cold, disgusted gaze. "Sierra, I never loved you. You've always been my pathetic lapdog. Honestly, I've always hated you. How could you ever compare to Sophie? She's my true love." After saying that, he gently kissed Sophie. Sierra shook with rage, but no matter how hard she tried, her body refused to move. Sophie stepped away from Benson's arms and sauntered toward her, a wicked smile twisting her lips. "Sierra, what good is your beauty? Mr. Gray still prefers me and despises you. I've always hated that pretty face of yours. Let's see what you rely on after I ruin it." She suddenly pulled out a knife, her expression twisted with malice as she aimed it at Sierra's face. "No!" Sierra's face paled as she tried to escape, but her body wouldn't move. She could only watch in horror as the blade neared her face. At that moment, Theo appeared and kicked Sophie away with a forceful strike. "Anyone who dares to hurt her is seeking death!" Sierra jolted awake, her eyes wide as she sat up in bed. It took several seconds for her to realize it had all been a dream. She let out a sigh and rubbed her temples, feeling bewildered. She had dreamt of Theo, creating a scene straight out of a melodramatic romance. She hadn't even been reading any novels lately. Why would Theo protect her like that? After all, he was just a senior member of the Gray family. His recent help was probably just because of Edward. Sierra muttered to herself as she picked up her phone. The screen lit up, showing several missed calls from Benson. Even at 3:00 a.m., he was still calling her. Had he gone mad? She frowned, set the phone aside, and got out of bed. … At the company, Sophie walked gracefully into the CEO's office, carrying a breakfast tray she had prepared herself. She set it carefully on the desk in front of Benson. "Mr. Gray, thank you for standing up for me at the restaurant yesterday. I made this breakfast myself to show my gratitude. I heard your stomach has been acting up, so I made some sweet potato and oatmeal porridge just for you." Benson had no appetite, but the effects of last night's drinking left his stomach unsettled. "Thank you. That was thoughtful of you," he said plainly and picked up a spoon. Upon hearing this, Sophie's smile became even softer, with a hint of shyness. "If you like it, I can make breakfast for you every day." Benson didn't respond. He took a sip of the porridge and frowned slightly before putting down the spoon. Sophie's expression shifted. She quickly asked, "Does it not suit your taste?" "It's not bad… but I'm used to how Sierra's oatmeal porridge tastes. Hers is different."
