Chapter 11 He's The Blind One

When Theo heard the phrase "breaking up," his dark eyes lit up slightly. Right after that, Benson's furious roar echoed from outside the door. "Breaking up? Ha! Honestly, I've been tired of you for a long time. If you hadn't clung to me so desperately, I wouldn't have looked at you twice!" He scoffed. "Sophie is gentle and kind, unlike you. You're petty and vicious, and you can't even compare to her little finger! You're dull and stupid. I'd love to see who would ever like you after leaving me!" Each word that left Benson's mouth felt like a thorn, piercing deep into Sierra's heart. She bit her lip hard and clenched her fists tightly. So, that's how he saw her. Benson never truly liked her. "Bastard!" A chilling voice rang out beside her. Theo's face darkened as he reached for the door. Sierra panicked and grabbed his hand. "Don't," she whispered, shaking her head gently, her reddened eyes carrying a silent plea. She was fully aware of how disheveled she looked. The last thing she wanted was to face Benson's disgusted gaze again or see how he shielded Sophie. Besides, she and Theo were already in a position that would be hard to explain. Theo's brows furrowed deeply, his fury so intense that it seemed he could pummel Benson without holding back. How could Benson treat her like this? If he had known things would end up like this, he would never have… Theo's lips pressed into a thin line. His heart ached at the sight of her pale face, making him momentarily lose his composure. Only after the noise outside died down did the tension in Sierra's body ease. Yet, she still felt as though she was trapped in an icy cellar, her entire body devoid of any warmth. "It's fine now. You can leave." She lowered her head as she spoke and let go of his hand. Then, Theo grabbed her hand in return. Sierra lifted her head and looked at him, a trace of displeasure in her eyes. "What are you doing?" Theo reached out and wiped the faint tears at the corner of her eye. His deep voice was soft and gentle. "Do you want to give Benson a good beating?" Sierra stared at him in surprise. He was Benson's uncle. Shouldn't he be taking Benson's side? "I stand for what's right, not for blood ties." Seemingly noticing the doubt in her heart, Theo explained himself calmly. Nevertheless, Sierra shook her head. She was self-aware enough to know that no matter how terrible Benson was, he was still a member of the Gray family. Theo's words were probably just comforting platitudes. "Thank you, Uncle Theo, but there's no need. I have nothing to do with him anymore." Theo noticed the wariness and mistrust in her guarded expression. His lips pressed into a thin line, and after a few seconds of silence, he finally spoke. "You're an amazing woman. Benson is blind not to see that." His voice was low and rich, carrying an elegance that was both soothing and unsettling. Sierra's eyelashes trembled, and an inexplicable ache formed at the bridge of her nose. She didn't respond. "If you've been wronged, why didn't you speak up?" Theo asked again. Sierra froze slightly. "How do you know I've been wronged? Didn't you hear Benson say that I've been bullying others?" "I only trust what I see with my own eyes," Theo said firmly, his voice steady and cold. Sierra let out a bitter laugh. "Benson saw it too, and he heard everything. Yet, he still chose to protect someone else. His heart is biased. No matter how much I explain, it's useless." Theo's gaze darkened as he spoke slowly. "So, you've really decided to break up with him?" "Yes." Sierra nodded resolutely. "So, Uncle Theo, there's no need for you to look out for me on account of Benson. Thank you for helping me yesterday." Before she could finish speaking, Theo's brows furrowed. "Who said I'm looking out for you because of him?"
