Seeming to have realized her blunder, Mrs. Barker immediately apologized. "I'm sorry, Ms. Fisher. Did I offend you with my incessant questions?"
No one had the heart to blame such a beauty. Mrs. Barker had merely asked a few questions about my family and hadn't said anything else. To be honest, it hardly counted as an offensive gesture.
I chuckled and said, "It's fine, I don't mind at all. It's just that my grandma passed away two years ago."
"Oh?" Mrs. Barker seemed disappointed, but she eventually grew remorseful. "I'm so sorry for bringing up something that makes you sad, Ms. Fisher."
