Time ticked by, and neither Bruce nor I showed signs of backing down.
The office was so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.
Just as the deadlock between us persisted, John piped up, "Mr. Harold, Ms. Fisher, it's dinner time. How about I reserve a table for both of you and discuss this over a meal?"
"No."
"I'm not hungry."
Bruce and I spoke in unison.
But I felt sorry for John and glanced at Bruce. "Mr. Harold, we initially chose to cooperate because it benefitted us both. As our investor, you certainly have the right to give opinions. But you shouldn't push our limits. You've crossed the line this time, and we cannot agree to your request."
"Na—Ms. Fisher, actually…" John began.
"You won't agree?" Bruce sneered. "You seem confident, Ms. Fisher."
"The shareholders' meeting is approaching, and you will have to explain this to Roeval Group. If you can't present something decent, you'll be the one in trouble," I spoke frankly.
