I was caught off guard by the bluntness of Caroline's approach.
As I glanced over, I saw her handing Bruce tissues and apologizing while instructing one of the staff to escort him to the lounge, her actions exuding both thoughtfulness and care.
At least it was what Caroline wanted others to see anyway.
As soon as I saw that, I immediately realized that I had to use every possible means to persuade Richard during this window of opportunity Caroline had created.
When I glanced back at Douglas, his gaze was unexpectedly fixed on the commotion as well.
With that, I nudged him and suggested, "Mr. Fowler seems to have had a few too many. Why don't we go over there now?"
Douglas withdrew his gaze, glanced at me, and said, "Alright, let's go."
When we reached the main table, Douglas and I took turns offering a toast to Richard. Given that Douglas was an old acquaintance of Richard's, he understandably took the lead.
