I felt disappointed, to be honest. If Cindy's criticism was somewhat gentle, Bruce's support of her was blunt.

"Reservations?" Bruce sneered and fixed his gaze on me. "It seems like he's just being difficult because he knows we went out of our way to find him in Willowbrook. You seem awfully understanding of him."
His mocking stare fueled my frustration. All I wanted was for the collaboration to work, so why was he being so sarcastic?
"Why? Are you worried about reprimanding him because he's friends with Jonah? And it will ruin your relationship with your dear Jonah?" he asked.
The mention of "dear Jonah" felt like salt rubbed into a wound. I took a breath and said calmly, "Mr. Harold, I hope you can calm down."
