Chapter 1206
I didn't agree to do the DNA test with Mrs. Barker. It wasn't because I was certain that I wasn't her daughter, even though I knew the result was already obvious.
My concern was for Mrs. Barker herself.
Mr. Barker already didn't like me. He disapproved of her treating me like family, and I strongly suspected the reason she hadn't been able to leave the house lately was because of him.
If I were to go through with the DNA test, it would only make him angrier. It wasn't wise to make her suffer more over a result we already knew.
Jonah paused for a moment, then nodded. "Alright. If you don't want to do it, then we won't."
He didn't ask me why or try to push me.
That was just how Jonah was. He always respected my boundaries and never put me in uncomfortable situations. Being around him was easy and effortless.
By then, we'd arrived at the entrance to my apartment complex. Jonah parked the car and unfastened his seatbelt before saying, "We're here, Ms. Nancy. I'll walk you upstairs."
