Anger surged within me. Not only did Douglas falsely speculate about my breakup with Jonah, but he even called Jonah a hot-headed kid.
While I could understand his verbal conflicts or dissatisfaction with Jonah, even with his harsh words, he crossed the line when he criticized Zane, claiming he wouldn't amount to much.
He and Zane were merely acquaintances, while Zane was kind and generous, never having wronged Douglas. Besides, he was just a child, yet Douglas harbored such hostility toward him, which genuinely bothered me.
