The intense fear made Xavier tremble.
Miranda noticed it and felt surprised. Since when had he become so easily shaken?
After a brief hesitation, she reached out and patted his back. "It's over now, Mr. Schneider."
Xavier clenched his jaw. She actually had the ease to comfort him? What a lunatic!
After releasing his hold on her, he turned to look outside.
Now he understood why Miranda had suddenly braked. In front of them was a field where farmers were working. She'd stopped the car to avoid driving into the field and potentially hurting them.
She always put her own life last. Seeing those farmers, she had chosen to let her side of the car take the hit from the SUV without hesitation.

Xavier shut his eyes tightly, resisting the urge to scream at her. He then opened the door and stepped out of the car.
As he walked over to the SUV, he yanked its door open.
