"You think I'm being unreasonable?" Xavier chuckled, but it was out of anger.
Miranda looked at him, her eyes devoid of any emotion.
"Turn around." His voice was icy.
Without a word, Miranda got out of the car and hailed a cab to take her home. As soon as she stepped inside, the doorbell rang.
Grinding her teeth, she walked to the entrance.
The moment she saw Jordan outside, she hurriedly opened the door. He was sweating profusely, and his face was etched with panic as he rushed in.
"We've got a serious problem, Ms. Jennings."
Miranda held a finger to her lips, signaling him to lower his voice.
Jordan quickly complied, whispering, "I contacted that guy, and he agreed to meet. But when I got to the place he chose, I-I almost got stabbed. I was terrified and had to get out of there. Do you think he knows we're working together?"
