Vivian approached Rebecca and took her hand.
Startled, Rebecca jumped off the chair. Her eyes were red as she followed Vivian out. The fact that she didn't resist suggested Vivian hadn't harmed her.
Miranda felt a wave of relief wash over her as she turned to Zachary, who lay on the floor. She stepped on his wrist and twisted it. A sickening crack echoed in the room, followed by his heartbreaking scream.
He looked at Miranda, whose gentle smile remained unchanged, and a wave of fear washed over him, as if he were staring at a monster.
