I slapped him right across his cheek again, the sound echoing in the biting cold.
For a moment, we were both stunned.
Clutching his cheek, Elijah stared at me in disbelief. Even though my hand was still stinging from the blow, I kept my gaze locked on him.
I slowly lowered my hand and said, "Elijah, I don't owe you anything. If you want to die, then go ahead."
Then I turned my head, unwilling to look at him any longer.
For a moment, neither of us spoke. The air between us thickened with our silence.
I couldn't say how much time had passed when I felt a gentle tug on my sleeve.
When I turned back, I found myself face-to-face with Elijah, his expression filled with remorse.
"Ari, please don't be mad anymore. I won't kill myself," he said.
I sighed inwardly , then helped him up with some effort. "Elijah, stop being like this, and let me take you back."
