I frowned. "Why isn't Elijah cooperating with the treatment? Isn't that just going to make his recovery harder?"
Evan, being younger and not fully understanding Elijah's authority, could only beg, "Ari, please, can you come talk to him? My mom's tried, but he won't listen to her. He's even kicked her out a few times."
I sighed. "Alright, I'll find some time to go talk to him. But you make sure to focus on your studies, okay?"
Evan agreed right away.
Before hanging up, I added with a hint of concern, "No matter what happens between me and Elijah, you'll always be my little brother, understand?"
There was a note of cheer in Evan's voice as he replied, "Got it, I'll remember that!"
